DETAILS & FAQS
-
Gridiron Football is one of the fastest growing youth leagues in the nation with a sole focus on Flag Football.
The curriculum progresses from 5 on 5 to 7 on 7 in preparation for high school football. Each year Gridiron hosts a national Spring tournament at the Dallas Cowboys practice facility following the Spring Season for eligible teams.
Learn more about Gridiron Football here.
Charleston Gridiron is operated locally by Victory Sports Prep, LLC.

GEAR: The Registration Fee includes Instagram-worthy swag consisting of a Gridiron Football Jersey, matching shorts and flag belt to keep.
Parent, Fan and athletic swag will be available for purchase on site as well.
EQUIPMENT: All field markers and footballs will be provided by Charleston Gridiron.
Mouthpieces are a must and we highly recommend cleats with socks – all of which are provisioned by the Player’s Parents. Mouthpieces are elusive so we suggest buying several as they tend to disappear over the course of a season. In the even that Winter comes to the Low Country, no side pockets are allowed on Player’s sweatpants.
We ask that Players refrain from distractive eyewear unless medically necessary.
Programming fee includes the operator’s costs such as field space, insurance, marketing, and staff.
-
We will keep Team rosters to 7-8 Players to ensure ample playing time for all in the anticipated 5 on 5 format with games consisting of two 15-minute halves, and a 5-minute halftime.
We welcome Team/Friend/Coach requests. However, in the interest of keeping the talent balanced across the League, we reserve the right to marginally adjust rosters accordingly in the spirit of competitiveness and parity.
We want to avoid “stacked” or “super teams” and will work with Coaches to ensure best in class experience.
-
This will be the best flag football experience in all of Charleston.
ON-SITE COMMISSIONER: Coach Vic is vested in the Program. He will be on site every session actively engaged and available in person.
DEVELOPMENT: The programming includes two sessions of development and scrimmaging directed by Coach Vic who played D1 College Football. He has been coaching year-round for the last four years in Charleston and is bringing best practices, innovation and charisma to the youth sports experience.
NETWORK: Coach Vic assembled a like-minded group of dedicated Coaches, Trainers and former Football Players who will serve as resources and staff during the program.
THE SYSTEM: All Teams and Coaches will be given age-appropriate core concepts, terminology and curriculum to ensure a competitive and developmental experience for all.
OFFICALS: Game-day staff will include several members from SCISA - South Carolina Independent School Association - who will be financially compensated. We are actively recruiting local high school & college football players as well for volunteer and paid opportunities.
VENUE: We will play on the turf field of the 2023 South Carolina State 2A Champions, Oceanside Landsharks.
FUN: There will be a Gridiron Griddy Cam for off the field celebrations. Our culture is one of competitiveness, sportsmanship and tasteful fun.
TAILGATES: Spectators will enjoy anticipated on-site concessions from local food trucks and comply with host venue policies.
SERVICE APPRECIATION: We anticipate regular recognition of our Armed Forces, their Veterans, Law Enforcement Officers and First Responders.
CUSTOMER EXPERIENCE: We welcome constructive feedback, listen to all ideas and adjust in the best interests of the Program and its Players because we are not a bureaucracy.
SCHOLARSHIPS: We do offer needs-based scholarships, via a Gridiron program - please contact us.
We believe Charleston Gridiron is bringing more resources to bear on the youth football experience than other offerings – many of which we are familiar with having volunteered with them over the last few years.
-
REFUND REQUESTS & CANCELLATIONS: Our cancellation policy was created with the advanced costs of staffing, insurance and facilities in mind.
Refund or Cancellation requests must be submitted by email to the League Commissioner at vcossel@gridironfb.com
Requests will be considered on an ad hoc basis.
Due to insurance and jersey ordering considerations, we cannot grant full refunds after the Commissioner orders team jerseys, usually 2-3 weeks prior to the season commencing. We will prorate the refund based on such timing considerations.
We will accommodate partial refunds upon considerations such as but not limited to unforeseeable circumstances including player injury or sudden change of family circumstance.
If any Player attends the first session and has such an undesirable experience that they no longer wish to participate, we will provide you with a prorated refund to account for Jersey and insurance costs.
All requests if granted are subject to a $25 administrative fee.
VENUE & SCHEDULE: While we have confirmed the field space with Oceanside Collegiate Academy, their teams’ field needs may change and we will adjust the schedule accordingly. For example, their team’s fall playoff runs may require displacing our sessions.
SAFETY: All Charleston Gridiron Volunteers and Staff undergoe a background check annually by Gridiron’s service provider.
INSURANCE: Gridiron Football insurance is provided for the events by Players Health. The local operator, Victory Sports Prep, is insured by Philadelphia Insurance.
ECONOMICS: Youth sports rely heavily upon volunteers. There is a shortage of Coaches and Officials. There is a small window of surge demand which makes staffing difficult. We welcome new & existing Coaches and Officials to join us and our existing network of Coaches will support newcomers.
Registrants with a Parent serving as a Head Coach will be fully reimbursed.
Given officiating shortages, we may ask Coaches to help officiate games to support an enduring Program of continuity & familiarity across the talent pool and across seasons instead of “transacting” from season to season.
The existing scarcity of proper field space is exacerbated by growing demand and our structural inability to access certain tax-payer funded “public” fields, even if such “public” fields are idled.
Charleston Gridiron is not taxpayer subsidized therefore, we are priced more dearly than typical “public rec.” Moreover, our focus is on Flag Football and we do not dilute our programming or rely on cross-subsiding from other sports on site. Our focus is Football, 100.
Please know we are wholeheartedly making best efforts to deliver a best in class experience. We know the schedule may not be optimal but it is the best we can do under the circumstance of scarcity.
We welcome your support to open up access to local “public” assets for use by … the public that funds them.
Please be patient – This is our first season. Sports league software is clunky and this is our inaugural season using a system tasked with registration, scheduling, league-building, communication et al. We are supported by Gridiron nationally and execute locally.
